BATCH Causes the spooler batch job to become current. Subsequent commands are applied to all the spooler jobs making up the spooler batch job. COPIES Changes the number of copies for the current job. DEL Deletes the current job completely from the spooling system. DEV Displays the status of a device and the queue of jobs waiting for that device. EXIT Exits from the program. Control Y also does an EXIT. FC Allows the user to modify and resubmit the last command line input. FILES [ ] Lists all filenames in the specified subvolume or in the current default subvolume, if is omitted. Names of spooler job files are preceeded by a "." symbol. FIND [B[OTH]] [ / / ] [ ] Finds an occurence of the find string and prints the line containing the string. The search for the string starts at if specified or the beginning of the job if is not specified. may consist of a page number, F, L, *, followed optionally by an offset. If string is not given then a search is made for the next occurence of the last find string entered. In the case where the next occurence is being found the find command always starts on the line after the line where the string was found last regardless of the commands executed in between. Specification of BOTH causes search for both UPPER and lower argument. FORM
Allows the form name for the current job to be altered. HELP [ /OUT / ] [ | ALL ] Gives explanations of the commands available in PERUSE. HELP with no will list the commands available. Providing a will give an explanation of that particular command. Giving 'ALL' as the command name will cause a full explanation for all commands to be printed. HOLD [ ON | OFF ] Sets the 'hold' state for the current job. If ON or OFF is not supplied then ON is assumed. HOLDAFTER [ ON | OFF ] Sets the 'holdafter' flag for the current job. If ON or OFF is not supplied then ON is assumed. JOB [ | * | STATUS | | ] causes the specified job to become current. If '*' is given then the job which has the latest open time stamp will become current. If 'STATUS' is given then if the current job has not been defined the job with the latest timestamp becomes the current job. Then the status of the current job including destination queue information is displayed. If is given then the first job in the will become current. If is given then the file must be a spooler job file and it will become the current job. If no parameter is given then the status of all jobs will be printed. The job which is current will have a 'J' as the first character of the status line for the job. The 'current' job is the one that is used for list commands, etc. LINK Causes to become linked to the current batch if the key attributes of the job match those of the batch. LIST [ [ ] /OUT [!] / ] [ [ ] ] , ... Allows the user to list all or parts of the current job. If is omitted, the default 'out' file will be used. If is omitted, then the listing will be done in a manner appropriate for the type of . If does not exist a spooler job file will be created. specifies the type of to be used (and created if necessary). 'EDIT'=edit file, 'SPOOL'=spooler job file, 'COMPRESS'=spooler job file with ascii compression. '!' purges an existing before listing begins. Otherwise, data is appended to an existing . can consist of a single page or a range of pages. A single page can be a page number (page one is the first page), or some number of pages away from one of the three bases: 'F', '*', or 'L'. 'F' is the first page, '*' is the current page, and 'L' is the last page. can also be two page numbers with a '/' between them. Finally, may be 'A' which stands for all pages. Some examples: LIST L-2 ! list the page two from the end LIST *+3/L ! list the third page from the current ! one to the last page. If is omitted, only the last page will be listed. can be one or more of the characters 'C', 'N', and 'O'. If is a spooler job file or spooler collector controls and setmodes from the original data will always be output unless the character 'N' is added to the . For other file types, controls and setmodes will not be sent unless the character 'C' is added to the . Adding the character 'O' to the end of a causes the data to be displayed in octal rather than ascii. LOC [ ] Allows the user to change the location for which the current job is destined. NUMCOL Allows the number of columns listed by the LIST command to be changed. The number of columns defaults to 79 when PERUSE is first run. OPEN [ [ . ] ] [ ] Specifies Spool Supervisor which Peruse communicates with. defaults to $SPLS. defaults to the current system. OWNER { , | . } Allows a job to be given to a differnt user. User can be specified in either number or name format. User name is converted to a user number by PERUSE. Keep this in mind when communicating with remote spool supervisors. PAGE [ ] If no page number is given then the PAGE command will print out the page and line the the current job is on. if a page number is given then the current job will be positioned to that page. The page number parameter consists of a page number or one of the bases 'F', '*', or 'L' followed by a page offset. 'F' is the first page, '*' is the current page and 'L' is the last page. PRI Allows the priority of the current job to be changed. PURGE [ , ] ... Purges the file(s) specified. REPORT Allows the report name of the current job to be changed. SHOWGROUP [ ON | OFF ] Meaningful only for GROUP MANAGERS when MGRACCESS has been set to ON by Spoolcom SPOOLER, MGRACCESS ON command. Enable or disables display of group members jobs when a Group manager is running peruse. If MGRACCESS is ON then using SHOWGROUP ON during a PERUSE session would display the manager the entire groups jobs during subsequent JOB commands. Also JOB STATUS and STATUS commands by group managers takes into consideration the entire groups jobs if SHOWGROUP is ON. SJFILES [ ] Same as FILES command, but only spooler job files are listed. STARTCOL Alters the starting column number used by the LIST command. The first column is number one. STARTCOL is set to one when PERUSE is first run. STATUS [ ] Prints the status of all available jobs each time the state of any of the jobs changes. A 'C' in the front of a status line means that the state of that job has changed since the last status printout. The is the number of seconds between checks of the job status. If is not entered then it will default to 10 seconds. Break is used to exit status mode and return to command mode. UNLINK Causes to become unlinked from the current batch. VOLUME [ ] Causes the volume and/or subvolume specified by to become the defaults for filename expansion. If is omitted, the original defaults are used.
